VMWare 3i

VMware 3i also known as ESX Server 3i is the next generation of VMware ESX. The hypervisor traditionally leveraged Red Hat, has been optimized into a 32MB footprint and isolated into server hardware. This new hardware based approach available in VT, AMD-V, NPT, EPT chipsets and processors also offers improvements in management and security.

ESX Server 3i includes the same functionality as VMware Infrastructure 3 ESX Server 3.5 including new features like Storage VMotion, VMware Consolidated Backup VCB and VMware Update Manager. High availability and scalability features like DRS in conjunction with ESX Server 3i will provide on the fly additions of compute horsepower.
